Brand Identity and Website Design for Electrical Recycling Company
ElectroRecycle is Canada’s first and only small appliance and power tool recycling program, with over 22 free drop-off locations.
Our challenge was to update the ElectroRecycle brand, developing a new logo and identity as well as designing and developing a new website. We worked closely with their communications team to gain an in-depth understanding of their challenges in order develop a product that met the needs of all users.
What we did.
- Brand Identity
- Brand Guidelines
- Campaign Design
- Website Design and Development
Illustration, Imagery and an Adaptable System
The aim of the project was to create a bold identity that would stand out, while educating consumers on the products accepted by the recycling program. We created a suite of illustrations, along with utilizing real-world, situational imagery of the products, in order to provide an adaptable system that would easily convey the company messaging.
The primary purpose of the website is to allow users to find a recycling location in their area, while discovering which products are accepted by the program. We simplified the navigation structure and prioritized the essential information, while incorporating the new illustrations and real product imagery into the design.
Creating the Depot Finder
With the Depot Finder we wanted to separate the experience from the rest of the website, designing an interface that would allow users to easily find the information they’re looking for.
The top bar allows you to search for your location and select the products you want to recycle, while the map provides an overview of the depots in your area. In the sidebar recycling locations are ordered by proximity and highlight all the relevant meta information for each depot.
Accepted Products and Campaign Design
In addition to the creation of a unique suite of illustrations, we used real product images on the Accepted Products page of the website, along with an intuitive search and custom filter to assist users in finding the information they need. Through using the search bar or filter it is easy to discover which products the program accepts and navigate to a recycling location.
With the rollout of the website, we created a range of marketing collateral and campaigns utilizing our illustrations and real-world imagery to reintroduce the brand and emphasize the brand messaging.
