Who We Are

“We are a team of creative thinkers and problem solvers who design products with users in mind.” This is true, but we are also people, so we thought we’d give you a little insight into the faces behind the names.

Our office is located in East Vancouver – we have a private office at Werklab, an innovative co-working space.

We follow the same general structure as a lot of other agencies, employing a mix of full-time staff, regular contractors, and plucking from a pool of trusted sub-contractors who are brought in for specific projects. Our aim is to work with the most talented people possible and improving technologies and increased remote working has meant that we have embraced this model, allowing us to offer our clients the best solution available.

ONBOX began life in 2014 and it’s safe to say we’ve come a long way since then! Founded by two Brits, Adam and Scott, we are proud to have adopted Canada as our chosen home.

Adam Hartley

Adam is originally from Manchester, England and moved to Canada in 2011 for “one ski season”.

As Partner, Adam is responsible for defining strategy and direction for both the company and projects. He also takes care of everything content, from brand voice and copy, to photography and video.

His passions lie in music and film, along with snowboarding, mountain biking, and any other way he can throw himself down a mountain.

I love creating things. Being a part of that process with our clients and constantly getting to make something new is what gives me energy.

Scott Thomson

Much like Adam, Scott moved to Canada from England in 2011 however, their paths didn’t cross till much later.

Scott takes care of all things design, managing contractors and overseeing creative strategy. He is an expert in digital design and has worked in agencies and as a freelancer for over 10 years.

Outside of design, Scott loves…design. He appreciates craftsmanship in all forms, be it a well made website, an IPA, or trucks and mountain bikes!

Work out the vision and worry about the details later. Never compromise a good idea.

Tom Bunney

If you weren’t sick of hearing the same story twice in a row, here’s another! Tom also managed to escape the land of Brexit for the sunny (rainy?) shores of Canada.

He is an incredibly talented illustrator and designer with over 10 years’ experience as a freelancer and with agencies across the world. He has an impressive portfolio of clients and loves to embrace new challenges.

When not working Tom can be found on a mountain on his bike, at the AirRec Centre on his bike, basically on some form of bike.

I like to draw skulls.
